Women’s Groups

United Methodist Women (UMW)

The purpose of the UMW is as follows:

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Reaching out and touching the lives of those in need is a mission for United Methodist Women.  These are examples of organizations the UMW has supported with generous donations:

    • Cunningham Children’s Home in Urbana, IL
    • Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House in E. St. Louis, IL
    • Westview Special Ed Program
    • Steve and Jennifer McMichael (missionaries with Fairbury roots)
    • Baby Fold
    • Home Sweet Home Mission
    • Caring Pregnancy Center
    • IGRC- Sponsor a Liberia Scholarship
    • King’s Kids (orphanage in India with local roots)
    • Chaddock School
    • Midwest Distribution Center
    • United Methodist Women District
    • United Methodist Women “Day of Giving”, “World Thank Offering” and “Legacy Fund”
    • Our Fairbury First United Methodist Church on several occasions

As United Methodist Women, we also support our church by:

  • Serving and providing food for Funeral Luncheons and other church functions
  • Providing financial support for the church building project and repairs, landscaping, church programs and mission work
  • Hosting Ladies Night Out gatherings
  • Hosting our Annual Salad Luncheon with proceeds going toward the current needs of the church
  • Updating the church Symbols Booklet

Men’s Groups

United Methodist Men

The purpose of the group is as follows:

  • Devotion
  • Fellowship
  • Service

We meet the first Sunday of each month at 7:30am at Diner 24 in Fairbury.  Find us in the downstairs dining room.
